The Mystic's Mystique
Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary defines a mystic as someone who believes “that direct knowledge of God, spiritual truth, or ultimate reality can be attained through subjective experience (as intuition or insight).” I would go further and add that most mystics have actually had a direct experience of God. My sister of heart Akka B. is one of those sorts… and more. And her chosen expression of those experiences is a poetry of yearning, randomness, and beauty.

I met Amma this week for the first time and got hugged. I’ve known about her since 1996, read Awaken Children III, and have dreamed of her. I have even been to a couple of non-attended satsangs in Santa Fe and Topanga. Though she is not my chosen teacher, she actually helped me find my way. For that and the amazing spiritual and humanitarian work she does in the world, I wanted to say thank you.
