Like with music, my pile of books has gotten pretty high lately.
I think there are at least six things that I’ve started. Among the various health-related reads, I’ve been drawn back into my Taoist studies. Re-reading Stephen Mitchell’s rendering of Tao Te Ching is a regular occurrence in my life. This pass was long overdue. In addition to personal perspective, I’ve also reaffirmed some measure of political clarity. The cynicism of Washington breaks my heart on a daily basis. Lao Tzu taught a different way. If only people in the Beltway would follow his lead.
I’ve also been digging into Lao’s later teachings as recorded in the Hua Hu Ching. Problem is, I’m not that keen on the translation I have. It’s too esoteric for me. My buddy Zach from Monks without Borders says the Brian Walker version is the way to go. And so I shall.
