When the 2012 inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced recently, I had an especially sweet twinge for several of the names. I’ve been fortunate in my life to have had some exciting jobs and situations that allowed me to hang with super-cool, often famous folks. And it just so happens that a couple of those folks were among next year’s honorees.

I’ve written about Adele a couple of times on assignment without ever listening to her in depth. With even just a cursory ear on her confirms that she does, indeed, have a great voice. Leaving Was Never My Proud
If oftentimes happens that a movie or a television show glamorizes and romanticizes a place to such an extent that I want to go there, live there even. Eat Pray Love made Bali look so stunning that, given the chance, I might visit despite the desperately long flight.
Music, though, doesn’t have the visual edge while making its case for a place. Still, one of the more evocative songs I’ve heard in a long time celebrates New York City.
