Thanks to Spotify, I’ve been rummaging through the music of my youth. High school, in particular. Tunes like “Don’t Disturb This Groove” and “Holding Back the Years” totally transport me back to those confusing and tortured years of adolescence. Apparently, I was a big R&B fan back then.

Finding a Fitness Groove

There are a number of arenas in life where it really is the thought that counts. Unfortunately, exercise isn’t one of them. I don’t at all mind contemplating fitness; it’s the actuality of the activity that bums me out. Much as I’d like to be, I’m just not one of those people who love to exercise.

Leaving Was Never My Proud

If oftentimes happens that a movie or a television show glamorizes and romanticizes a place to such an extent that I want to go there, live there even. Eat Pray Love made Bali look so stunning that, given the chance, I might visit despite the desperately long flight.

Music, though, doesn’t have the visual edge while making its case for a place. Still, one of the more evocative songs I’ve heard in a long time celebrates New York City.

Bonnaroo Brings the Bands

I watched a bit of Bonnaroo’s streaming webcast over the weekend. Got turned on to some bands that I hadn’t really dug into before; and mildly turned off to some bands that I really dug before. In that first category, I’d put The National, Kings of Leon, and The Gaslight Anthem. In the latter goes Spearhead, all because Michael Franti’s banter consisted solely of “How ya feelin’?!?” and “Make some noise, Bonnaroo!!!”
